How to Export Payroll Journals from Moneysoft

Step-by-step instructions for exporting Employee Pay Totals and NIC Allowance reports from Moneysoft Payroll Manager.

Updated 14/06/2026 · 5 min read

Moneysoft Payroll Manager exposes everything you need to build a payroll journal, but it isn't obvious which reports to use. Here's the practical version.

The two reports that matter

  • Employee Pay Totals — gross pay, PAYE, employee NIC, pension and net pay.
  • Employer's NIC Allowance — employer NIC and any Employment Allowance reduction.

Exporting

Open the pay period, choose Reports, select the report, then export as CSV. Save with a clear name (e.g. ClientName-2025-04.csv) so it's easy to reconcile later.

Common pitfalls

  • Exporting before the pay run is finalised — figures will change.
  • Mixing pay periods in one file — keep one period per CSV.
  • Editing the CSV in Excel and saving as .xlsx — keep it as CSV.
